Default I wonder why...

I wonder why so many not-so-rich people sit there and say "I got droks armor woot, i dont care about flashy expensive loll" (and 90% of the time warriors have Gladiator Armor with ascalon helm)
But, if they truely didnt care about appearance and always whine about money, why dont they get collector max armor, such as the Ringmail?
I mean it still looks decent, and is even somewhat original, and doesnt look stupid like regular ringmail. Not to mention its FREE.
So why whine about price and then not go even cheaper than u already do?

And dont give me the "why waste 60k on armor instead of a good weapon or something?"

Well HELLO, those of us who have the money for 60k armor have the money for the good weapons also.

Um... because using collector's armor instead of Drok's actually impacts your gameplay, if only slightly, and using Drok's instead of 15k doesn't?

Seems pretty obvious to me...

(Not that it stops me from wearing collectors'.)

Lots of people do not even know about collector armor and where to get it.
Also people tend to group with people that have 15k or droks armor.
Not saying that collector means you do not know how to play but thats the way people are.

yup, because there is a difference between collectors (ringmail) and the other armors (glads, etc.) in functionality that does not exist between the different versions of any particular armor (1.5k glads, 15k glads, etc.)

Yeah, you cant get +1 energy or damage reduction on collectors armor. Otherwise more people probably would get collectors intead of Droks armor.

well...collectors armor are good to start off when you have nothing. once you got it, collect for a 60k armor! trust me, if youre wearing 60k armor other players respect you more . i mean, if youre wearing expensive armor it means you got enouth game experience cuz it can take a while to make 60k, get a good weapon AND get to the place where you craft the 60k armor.

as example, before applying the Sup runes to my monk tatoos (so im 55 monk), i got the collectors set, so if i wanna go as a healer or a bonder i still can only by swiching armors.

In my experience the only thing a 60k armor tells you is that the person wearing it is experienced in the farming department, not if he is experienced in teamwork. If you farm the right places it doesn??t take you that long to get the money for a 60k armor, and there is tons of runners who can run you anywhere you wanna go. Sure, most players with a 60k armor are good players, but there is far to many who THINKS that they are good players, because of their 60k armor.

Just my point of view...

Why didn't you mention FoW armor? :P

It's a symbol to show everyone how much exprince you have with the game. Tell me, how many people have FoW armor and are newbs who don't follow instructions based on rational logic? Answer is : Not many, almost none.

15k means your a exprinced farmer, but not in terms of teamwork.

Drok armor : People who are still beginners. (If they start whining about how 15k or FoW is pointless, their hopeless)

Collectors or worse : Speacial reasons. Otherwise noobs, who might as well go sell their account.

15K armor doesn't mean anything about being a farmer. I was able to get my first set of 15K armor because I got a superior absorption dropped for me in Sanctum Cay on my first character while going through the mission.

There are plenty of people in FoW armor who make very poor decisions and act in a way that defies logic when playing.

I am on my 6th character and my mesmer and monk are both wearing droks armor with no plans to upgrade. I am still a beginner? I don't care for the looks of the upgrades on those particular characters and not going to upgrade unlike some of my others.

People wearing colletor's armor are n00bs who should sell their account? You really have no objectivity in any of your analysis Ivy.

The question was answered for the OP when it was pointed out that non-collector's armor provides bonuses that the collector's doesn't.

Yea. fissure armor is suppose to be a large gold sink. so if you REALLY want it more power to you. I'm not into farming or for that matter having that kind of gold on my person. I'm more into playing with my friends and helping other new players do missions or whatever. Its not about the goodies. its about the gameplay. GW is a wonderful distraction. And affordable... Its something I can walk away from and come back to without a loss of any kind to either party. Players or Developers... Because they already got my money when I bought the game. so if I play great if I don't no biggy... But I'm not punished for not playing. and that's HUGE. I like that I can have a LIFE outside of the game. Can one say the same of games like WoW or EQ2? Not really. because if you let your subscriptions lapse and come back a few months later and reup. guess what? your characters are long gone... This is not the case with GuildWars. Its a casual players MMO... and a Hard Core players MMO. Its got something for everyone. PvP, PvE, Single player, Multi Player, Massive gold sinks, Free collector stuff. I mean anyone can play this game... And Anet is not all about adding to addiction syndrome as WoW and EQ are... you see they want you so Wired and into the game that you would sacrifice you kin to get more... That is the basis of the subscription model. Make em pay, and Pay, and pay again... and for the heck of it Make em pay one more time... Throw in a new grind function, and make em start over the cycle once more... And if they DARE not pay, Wipe em out and make em start from scratch... Thats what they get for Daring not to pay our extortion requirements. THAT my friends is WoW... That is also why the folks that started Arenanet LEFT Blizzard. cause that was all Blizzard was about. Anet had higher standards and goals in mind for GW. They wanted to force a change in the industry for the better... Guess what? they are...

This is one of the most obnoxious, blinkered and misinformed posts I've read in a while. People with collectors' armour should sell their accounts? Cmon..

Oh so you mean I'm noobish because i don't have 15k or FoW? I rather spend money on greens, so I customize them ( !! ) so I can have a good PvE character...also, I don't get alot of money, the most cash I got is when I sold all my sigils

Agree with The Real Roy Keane

One of my guildmates has a w/m, and guess what, collectors armor, and he has completed the game and most of the missions that follow. One of the best warriors I´ve played with. Only reason he keeps that armor is because you don´t see many warriors with it (I guess it makes him feel special ), and he gets a good laugh every time he join a group and hear their reactions...

Only way to find out if a player is experienced or not (hate the N*** word, so I won´t use it) is to play with them. A guy in a collectors armor may as well kick a guy with FoW-amor sorry little a** any day in the week..

I got 15k dragon armor and 15k ascalon armor, but I like the desert collector chainmail better w/my ascalon helm (go figure). Does this make me a noob? I've played since beta and I don't consider myself new to the game or how it works. Maybe the people that feel they need glads armor to make a decent warrior are the noobs. If your having energy management problems running a warrior, then you need to rethink your build.

I don't think any good players will differ in respect depending on your armour.

Ok, to get the money for 15k/FoW legitimately, you need to be good at farming OR spend a ridiculous amount of time in groups. Most people are going to solo. This tells me one thing: they're good at soloing. People good at soloing *usually* aren't that great a team player, therefore are rubbish at the game when it comes to actually playing with other people. Of course, this isn't always true, you might get a good drop (finished my ranger 15k thanks to a sup vig drop) but the majority of people will farm for 15k.

Some 15k/FoW looks horrible, as does some droks. My chars are in fact a mix of droks and 15k because of what i prefer. I like the look of necro/monk fow but don't see myself getting it in a long time so have stuck to droks. I hate the look of fow ranger, and prefer 15k over droks so got that. My ele is going to stay in droks because not only do i prefer the look of it, but no one else has it (ele armour, not aero/geo/hydro/pyro).

All the different armours do is tell people what you like aesthetically. If people think you're a better player just because you're wearing 15k, those people probably aren't worth grouping with to my mind. I have 15k on my ranger but not on my ele... so anyone basing assumptions on those chars of mine will come to some odd conclusions

Remember all, no-one can defeat vanity, it's as simple as that

Warrior Collector armour= teh hotness

15k Gladiators= choice of the masses

15k Gladiators with 1.5k Knights Leggings, 1.5k glads hauberk, major absorbsion and superior vigor= My Choice 1 point off of being practical and i dont mind admitting I farmed my backside off to afford that.

Naturaly dyed lime green of course.

But of course, I'm a nubcake for having an armour 71 soldiers leggings for when i wanna flaunt myself - it's not my fault they dont do an armour 80 version *coughbsartardscough*

i didnt mean it that way actually. youre right, but what i was trying to point out that if a player is wearing 15k armor it shows that he definitly spent more then 2 mounths in the game, while one in collectos armor might have just started, and MIGHT not have as much experience in GAMEPLAY. it doent mean youne noobish, it just tells others that you are not new, meanwhile collectors armor doesnt mean anything expet that you got it from collector.

when i use my monk as a healer wearing collectors set, i dont scream that i got 55 tatoos in my bag.... but ppl see that i have good game experience because of how im using skills.....

so dont take what i said the wrong way

Wrong. While I have now been in the game for more than two months, at the time I got my 15K on my ele I had only been in the game for 2-3 weeks.

I know of people who started a new character, immediately left pre- got run all the way to Grotto or citadel and had their 15k in a few hours. How they got the money is either through ebay, guildies or previous money from storage from another character.

You walk a slipperly slope when you try to apply DEFINATELY to anything.

Even though I have been playing since october and consider myself a pretty decent player, I will at times have a major brain fart and do something completely amateurish. At which point my team will decry me as a total n00b.
